Egerton Pumas U9’s 4 – 1 Vale Juniors

Egerton signalled their intent straight from the kick off when a neat move down the left ended with Stan Smith cutting inside and clipping a shot against the foot of the post.  The Pumas were up against good opposition and had to work hard in all areas of the pitch to control the game.  A clever change in formation by the management midway through the first half created a chance for Jack Curbishley to race clear and open the scoring.  The Pumas were playing well with Tom Quenby snuffing out danger and Matt Willis handling everything Vale could throw at him with confidence.  Ben Henthorn was looking to celebrate his birthday in style bringing the ball out of defence and trying his luck from distance.  After the interval, a marvellous ball over the top by Bradley Hargreaves set Jack Curbishley racing clear of the Vale defence to who scored with a superb low drive.  At this point Egerton seemed to be cruising with Olivia French bossing the midfield and playing telling passes while Freddie Sass and Liam Birnie pushed on at every opportunity.  Vale pulled a goal back and suddenly Egerton seemed set for a nervy finish.  Instead of clinging on for a slender victory the Pumas were inspired.  Man of the match Stan Smith created space in the box before finishing emphatically and then shortly afterwards rolled the ball into Jack Curbishley who finished with aplomb to wrap up a another super hat-trick.
