Egerton Panthers U9’s 2 – 1 Sandbach United

The Panthers dominated the early exchanges and took the lead early on when a Leo Buckley corner floated out to Ed Franklin who controlled neatly before firing home. Going behind spurred Sandbach as they came back strongly, Andy Price kept Egerton ahead with a desperate goal line clearance. At the other end Luke Granger showed great strength to win the ball and saw his low drive hit the post. As the game swept from end to end, Sandbach got back in the game when Jasper Kearns couldn’t quite keep out a spectacular long range effort. Sandbach tails were up and it took a wonderful last ditch tackle by man of the match Ben Haselden to keep the scores level. In the second half, Egerton took control once more and almost got back in front when Ed Franklin’s piledriver was defelected just over the bar. At the other end Liam Birnie had to be alert to snuff out the threat of counter attacks. Eventually, the winner came from a route one move when a Jasper Kearns clearance broke to Adam Lee who still had plenty to do but managed to clinch the victory with a powering run and unstoppable finish.
