Egerton v Hartford

Egerton Vs Hartford Boys

Egerton Pumas 3-4 Hartford Boys

The Pumas began this game eager to put the defeat by Davenham behind them and early Egerton pressure lead to the first chance, a mistake by the Hartford defence gave Jack an opportunity only for his shot to be saved. Bradley had begun with a purpose and tried to find his range by hitting a couple of long range efforts which were well saved by the Hartford keeper. The Pumas then stepped up a gear and the midfield linked well with Jack to almost set up Adam, however the keeper was quick off his line to save. Jack seemed to have had his Weetabix before the game as his strong runs were causing the Hartford defence all sorts of problems. With Ben moving up into midfield for this game, Archie and Mitch were holding strong in defence. It would take something special for Hartford to score, and it did, the Hartford number 10 hitting a long range effort into the top corner, 1-0 Hartford. This sparked the Pumas into life and within minutes Ben equalised with a low strike from a tight angle. 1-1. The Pumas then increased the pressure and forced a corner, Bradley swung the corner over to the back post, which was met by the head of Archie to make it 2-1 to Egerton. The Pumas were now flying and a pinpoint thru ball by Jack to Adam was well saved by the keeper. Bradley was causing all sorts of problems down the right and an inch perfect cross was met by Jack, only for him to slot the ball wide, how he missed that one only Jack will know. Archie was now all over the pitch and a great run back to help out in defence saw him use his head once again to clear a dangerous cross. Hartford drew the game level just before half time when a corner was clipped in once again by their number 10. HT 2-2.

The Pumas started the second half brightly with Jack hitting a shot from the left, which was easily saved by the keeper. The midfield was beginning to dominate and Egerton should have been 3-2 up when a 1 on 1 situation fell to Jack only to see his shot once again saved. Adam had now taken over from Isaac in goal and his quick thinking lead to him running out from goal to clear an almost certain chance of a goal. Hartford then hit Egerton on the break and a long run by their number 10 finished with him smashing the ball into the bottom corner. 3-2 Hartford. Egerton then put Hartford under sustained pressure and they had to throw everything in the way of two shots from Archie to keep their lead intact. The equaliser did come minutes later with Stan popping up in the box to score with a great finish. 3-3. Archie then almost put the home team in front only for him to see his shot hit the side netting. A break then saw Hartford score the winner, a long ball played to their number 10 saw him somehow clip the ball over an on rushing Adam to make it 4-3. A late strike from jack hit the post but the Pumas couldn’t find that final, elusive equaliser. Overall a great performance by the Pumas, who without the number 10 of Hartford having the game of his life, would have recorded a better result. FT 3-4.

Egerton Panthers 3-1 Hartford Boys

The Panthers were looking for their fourth win in a row today, but without leading goal scorer Ollie Oldbury the rest of the players need to fill in. The first chance fell to Luke, Tom swung in a great corner to the far post only for Luke to miss time his header and send it over the bar. Luke then produced the goal of the game to open the scoring, a strong run down the right saw him look up and loop the ball over the keeper from the edge of the area. 1-0 Egerton. A quick break at the other end then saw Hartford equalise from a very tight angle. 1-1. This seemed to knock the stuffing out of the Panthers which saw a lull in the game with the majority of the play being battled for in midfield. With 5 minutes of the half remaining the game sparked into life, a long range shot by Hartford was brilliantly saved my Matt, before Luke tried his luck from distance only for him to see his effort also well saved. With virtually the last kick of the first half, Tom swung in a corner, the ball bouncing in between both sets players before Ed saw an opportunity and tapped in from close range 2-1 Egerton HT.

The second half began as the first had finished, Hartford hit a great effort only to see Matt somehow save with his feet. Leo seemed to spark into life in the second half and a couple of strong runs down the right began to cause Hartford problems. Matt was called into action once again when a well worked free kick needed to be saved, and Matt made sure that was the case. At the other end Ben wanted in on the action and following a clearance from an Egerton corner he smashed an effort back at the keeper from 20 yards only for it to be once again saved. Was this keeper going to be beaten again today? Ed certainly fancied his luck and tried a long range effort which was once again SAVED!!. With the aggregate scores tied at 5-5 and a last look at the watch from the gaffer, the game looked to be over. Egerton had one last corner, Tom floated it in, Hartford cleared to the edge of the box only to see Ed steaming in to side foot the ball into the top corner, the arms came out in typical Ed celebration fashion and the lads joined in before the referee blew the final whistle. A below par performance by the boys today, however they learned a valuable lesson in how to play below their potential and win. FT 3-1.

Egerton v Davenham

Egerton Vs Davenham 6/11/10

Egerton Pumas 0-2 Davenham

This eagerly awaited fixture began with both teams being fired up and eager to get one over on each other. The first chance of the game came early on and fell to Stan, only for him to see his shot well saved. Davenham then had their first chance which went narrowly wide of the post. This was to be a game of few chances with both teams battling hard to cancel each other out. Good play in midfield by Bradley and Stan saw Isaac released for a 1 on 1 chance, which he failed to convert after the keeper came off his line quickly. A strong Davenham attack produced a fine bit of defending by Archie who managed to get back to clear off the line to keep the scores level. The resulting corner was cleared to the edge of the box, the ball was struck through a crowded penalty box to nick of an Egerton player into the bottom corner. 0-1 Davenham. Davenham now had their tales up and put the Egerton defence under more pressure, only for Ben and Archie to hold strong. Ben was called into action moments later to make the second line clearance of the game. The game then became a battle of the midfield with both teams once again cancelling each other. Mitch then made a great save, holding onto a strong shot before distributing brilliantly to Bradley on the right. Mitch was then called into action once again and a triple save of the highest quality kept the scores at 1-0 before half time. HT.

The second half saw the energetic Jack put Davenham under pressure and a strong run and shot by the same man almost lead to an equaliser. This sparked Egerton into life and they produced two great counter attacking chances which unfortunately didn’t lead to a deserved equaliser. At the other end a scramble in the Egerton area led to nothing only for it to be struck from outside the area to be saved brilliantly once again by Mitch. It was going to take something special to beat him again. With virtually the last move of the game, Davenham broke 3 on 1 and used the extra 2 men to beat Mitch at the far post. 0-2 Davenham FT

Egerton Panthers 2-1 Davenham

A rousing team talk by number 2 Jim got the Panthers pumped before the whistle for kick off had been blown. The Panthers flew out of the traps and within the first 5 mins made it 1-0. Great build up play saw Ollie fed in down the left side of the box for him to smash the ball across the keeper. 1-0 Egerton. The Panthers were now flying and Alex came close, before Ed also went close following good work from Ollie. The man with the Tevez hairstyle wasn’t finished there, Ollie showed great close control to smash the ball past the keeper from a tight angle. 2-0 Egerton. Davenham were now on the ropes and Ollie hit the bar from close range following a scramble in the area, before he hit a 20 yard screamer that ricocheted of the corner of bar and post. Luke almost got in on the action after Alex played a fantastic through ball to him only for it to be a little too long. Davenham then appeared from nowhere and one of their first chances hit the post towards the end of the first half. HT 2-0.

Second half began brightly when immediately from kick off, Luke played the ball to Leo, whose strong run and shot was well saved. A long goal kick by Matt created a chance for Ollie who shot just wide. The forward line of Davenham were struggling against the strength of both Tom and Ben, who were taking no prisoners when it came to 50/50 tackles. A Davenham break saw Ben make one of his trade mark last ditch tackles, before Matt saved brilliantly from a counter attack a couple of minutes later. A mistake by Egerton saw Davenham claw a gaol back following a poor clearance from the back. 2-1. This didn’t seem to effect the Pumas and following a corner from the left, they hit the woodwork (or metal) once again, this time Alex hit the shot. The next opportunity fell to Leo who hit a long range effort which was heading for the bottom corner only to see it saved well by the keepers feet. The teams then cancelled each other out for the last couple of minutes before the final whistle. The Pumas should be more than happy with their performance today and with a bit more luck they could have won by a bigger margin. FT 2-1

Egerton v Congelton Rovers

Congleton Rovers Away 30/10/10

Egerton Pumas 2-0 Congleton Rovers

Pumas too strong for Rovers

The Pumas for the second week started off slowly which allowed a well balanced Congleton team to settle. The pumas then kicked into gear and good link up play between Bradley and Isaac almost created the first opportunity of the game. The same two players linked up once again, a strong run by Isaac, followed by a stinging shot produced a fine save from the goalkeeper. Cue a contender for the bizarre goal of the season, straight out of the Pepe Reina book of howlers. Following a corner from the right Ben managed to get his foot to the ball following a deflection, which the keeper comfortably collected, only to then drop the ball over his own goal line! 1-0 Egerton. This sparked Congleton into life and they came close to an equaliser following a quick break. Ben then hit one of his trademark long range efforts which was saved well by the keeper. The partnership of Freddie and Archie down the left was beginning to cause Congleton problems. Freddie was then saviour as Stan saved from Congleton strike, the ball rebounded back to the Congleton player who’s shot was destined for the net before Freddie stuck out a leg to deflect it over the bar. A “thank you” pat on the back was given by Stan. The first half finished with a flurry of shots, Bradley’s shot was firstly saved by the keeper with the resulting corner being headed wide by Isaac. HT 1-0

Bradley was determined to get his name on the score sheet and began the first half with a few driving runs down the right. Mitch had come on mid way through the first and quickly began to dominate midfield with strong tackles and great link up play with the forwards. Stan came out of net for the second half and it wasn’t long before he made a great run and narrowly shot over the bar. Mitch went close from close range but the keeper made up from his earlier error by pulling off another great save. It started to look like this was going to end 1-0 until another inspired substitution by the gaffer for the second week running, Freddie, who had earlier limped off pleaded to go back on, the gaffer took the risk to see Freddie with his first touch pick out Archie in the middle with a fine through ball for him to smash it past the keeper. 2-0. Freddie then signalled to the bench he needed to come off due to his injury having put the game to bed. Alex could have made it 3-0 just before the end but his shot was well saved. Final Score 2-0.

Egerton Panthers 3-0 Congleton Rovers

Quemby thunderbolt rocks Rovers

The second game started brightly for the Panthers with good early linkup between Luke and Ollie producing the first shot of the game. Leo had to leave the game early on with a wrist injury leaving the panthers with no subs, the pressure was on. Not that this seemed to affect the midfield duo of Luke and Ed, with the latter producing a perfect overlap move to then square for Luke to shoot just wide. The panthers kept up the pressure with Ollie hitting a couple of good shots that were well saved by the keeper. Congleton then almost scored against the run of play with an opportunist strike hitting the post. The panthers then forced a corner following a quick break, Luke swung in the corner for Ed to volley against the outside of the post. Luke then had a 1 on 1 chance which was once again well saved. Luke took the resulting corner only for it to be cleared, however the ball fell to Tom who’s neat control and powerful strike from 20 yards smashed in off the post. 1-0. Congleton almost equalised immediately with a volley that was just wide of the far post. Half time was rapidly approaching but Ed almost made it 2 from a pin point cross from Ollie. HT

The 2nd half started as the 1st half had finished, with a great effort by Ed just going wide, the pairing at the back of Andy and Tom seemed to have settled and Congleton were reduced to shooting from long range, one of which needed to be superbly saved by Matt, tipping it round the post . A rocket from his dad at half time sparked Oliver into life and he began to make telling runs and a few great through balls towards the striker. Ed’s hard work in midfield paid off when he was quickest to react, tapping in from a corner following the ball bouncing around in the box. 2-0. The panthers were now in full flow and a long range effort by Ollie narrowly missed the target. Another goal would finish the game and came courtesy of a great through ball from Ed to Luke, who composed himself in the area before firing into the bottom corner, his second goal in as many games. 3-0. A goal well deserved after a nonstop display. He could have made it 4-0 late on with a similar chance but his effort was well saved. A solid performance by the Panthers today. FT 3-0.

Egerton v Tytherington

Egerton Pumas 4 Tytherington 3

The coldest morning of the season so far lead to a slow start from the Pumas, this resulted in them falling behind after confusion near the corner flag, the Pumas thought the ball had gone out, Tytherington played on and scored to make it 1-0. This sparked the Pumas into life, Ben played a great ball down the right, Adam chased the ball down, Archie to cross into the box for Stan to slot home 1-1. The Pumas then produced their best bit of play to take the lead. A end to end passing move that included all of the players touching the ball at least once and a trademark step over by Bradley saw him slot Stan in for his second of the game 2-1. An inspired substitution and tactical change saw Isaac moved from defence to attack and within minutes he had his name on the score sheet with an emphatic finish into the top corner 3-1, cue the running celebration! Isaac wasn’t finished there and following a great pass by Mitch to Bradley, the Bradster released Isaac to score his second 4-1. The Pumas then let their performance drop giving the ball away on a few occasions. This gave Tytherington the opportunity to get back into the game. Tytherington clawed a goal back in dramatic fashion, a cross from the right saw Freddie scissor kick the ball beyond his own keeper, had it been at the other end it would have been a contender for goal of the season 4-2. Tytherington then scored a goal late on to make the finish tenser than it needed to be but held on for the win. Final score 4-3.

Team: Ben Hen, Adam, Archie, Stan, Isaac, Brad, Freddie, Mitch

Egerton Panthers 1 Tytherington 0

The second game of the day also started slowly which allowed Tytherington time to settle. The Panthers then kicked into gear and camped themselves in the Tytherington half leaving stand in goalkeeper Andy with nothing to do for large parts of the first half. Good work from Leo down the left created a chance for Alex who shot just wide. A second chance was to follow shortly after when good work from Ollie released Ed who crossed for Alex who’s resulting shot was saved well by the Tytherington keeper, the resulting rebound fell to the feet of Leo, only for him to see his shot hit the crossbar. HT 0-0. A goalkeeper change saw Tom take over from the now bored Andy in goal. The second half started as the first had finished with the Panthers throwing everything at Tytherington. A 4on1 break saw Ed put just wide from inside the 6 yard box. This was followed by a number of chances, the best falling to Alex who’s shot hit the bar before Luke’s rebound struck the foot of the post. Was it to be one of those days? The defensive rock we know as Ben was also trying to break the deadlock, making forward runs at any opportunity he had which resulted in a great shot from distance. The breakthrough finally came 2 minutes from the end. Luke picked the ball up on the half way line and only had one thing on his mind......last minute winner! A Panthers break created a 2 on 1 situation for Egerton and with the Tytherington defender preferring to stay marking Leo, Luke jinked his way into the box before slotting the ball into the bottom corner 1-0. Cue the final whistle and a sigh of relief from the Panthers who on another day could have scored 10. Final score 1-0.

WINSFORD DIAMONDS

EGERTON PANTHERS 5-1 WINSFORD DIAMONDS

5 STAR PERFORMANCE

After last weeks faultless display the panthers took to field full of confiedence and hunger and they were soon off and runnining and with only 2 mins on the clock egerton had there 3rd corner of the game the ball was crossed in by leo for ed to rise above everyone and head into the roof of the net 1-0 a flying start. It was the midfield general again who was at the forefront of the next goal he won the ball which produced an attack of 4 against 1 and his slide rule pass realeased olly who fired high into the net 2-0. once again it was ed battling in midfield who realeased olly who slotted into the bottom corner 3-0. winsford crabbed a goal back with another dubious penalty (2 in 2 weeks) when tom was ajudged to of fouled there striker video replays shows no contact on the striker. matt stood tall and got his hand to it but was unfourtunate to see it drop in 3-1. egerton rallied and produced a string of attacks with luke and leo flying down the wings and even ben was looking to get in on the action with some confident runs and shots from centre half. the fourth was soon to come when olly picked the ball up on the edge of the box beat 2 players and fired high past the goalkeeper for his hat-trick 4-1.there was still time for a fifth this time olly turning provider his neat 1-2 with luke resulted in his cross being tapped in at the backpost by leo 5-1.

This was a big performance by the pumas this week and with a few players missing the result was all the better . With bradley back in the starting line up for the first time in 3 weeks he was eager to give of a performance . but for the second week running the pumas started slow and some sloppy passing resulted in winsford having the first chance which tested stand in keeper ben. once the pumas had settled it was not long before they were in front hard work and determination resulted in the ball dropping to alex who slotted calmly into the bottom corner 1-0. the second was soon to follow when mitch released alex with a ball of pin point precision alex ran onto and slotted in to the bottom corner from just inside the box 2-0. the pumas were now flying and playing some of there best football this season stan was bossing the midfield and was soon on the score sheet when he picked the ball up just outside the box beat 2 and slotted into the corner 3-0 winsford did manage to pull a couple of goals back but this didnt bother the pumas who soon but the game to bed with a fourth a corner floated in by mitch was flicked on by alex and fell to isaac who fired into net4-2 for his first of the season who ran of like linford christie celbrating never seen him run so far as he come back yet??

BARNTON WANDERERS AWAY

BARNTON 0-3 EGERTON PANTHERS

THE PANTHERS WERE FRANKLIN UNSTOPPABLE

Midfield dynamo ed franklin was on song at barnton this week his late goal helping the panthers to only there 2nd win of the season. Despite coming up against a very organised team the panthers showed their abillity to pass and move as they played them of the park in the first half . chances were created and not taken as the barnton goalkeeper was working overtime . mid-way through the first half the best chance fell to olly whos deft chip looked goal bound untill the keeper lept up and tipped it over the bar as the half wore on more chances were missed and this gave barnton hope as we went in at half time 0-0. The panthers started the second half as they finished the first fast counter attacking football with ed at the forefront of the attacks ,with good hold up play by olly upfront this created the first goal a long ball down the line by tom was chased down by olly who worked hard to get his cross in which with a bit of a scrammble fell to alex who hit high into the net for his first of the season 1-0 this lifted the panthers even more and were soon two up a neat pass from alex set olly on his way towards goal again whos shot was saved but followed up by ed who hit into the bottom corner 2-0 the goals kept coming now for the panthers as again ed broke up a barnton attack who then realeased olly down the right to cross for leo to tap in 3-0. barnton never gave up but with ben defending like kolo toure they were unable to break through the backline.

ARCHIE THE HERO

The pumas produced a spirtied performance that may of lacked fluency and quality but had enough character and grit to secure a win against a well-drilled barnton side. The pumas couldnt get going in the first half and with posession being given away through sloppy play barnton were the stronger team creating a number of chances but not really testing the goalkeeper. The one time the pumas produced the football they are known for resulted in the games opening goal a neat run down the right from adam who produced a pin point cross for archie to head into the bottom corner 1-0 . The pumas were soon pegged back though when a lack of concentration in the back line allowed barnton through on goal who calmly netted 1-1.H-T 1-1. At half time a few hash words were said to the boys and with a few tactical decisions this seemed to bring the pumas to life and with three quick goals this killed the game off . The first coming through jack whos hard work payed off when he tapped into the corner . The third came when a defensive mistake was pounced on by adam who shot into the far corner . There was still time for barnton to get back into the game and when they were awarded a dubious penalty this was there chance but archie a halftime replacement for jack made himself big and managed to tip the ball over . There was still time for one more attack as stan was set free an as the goal neared he neatly slotted under the out coming keeper 4-1 and with five mins to go bradley was introduced to a loud roar from the crowd after nearly three weeks out injured.

MIDDLEWICH TOWN HOME

PUMAS 3-2 MIDDLEWICH

The first game saw the pumas take on a battling middlewich side.
play was narrow and sore some great individual efforts but limited passing in the final 3rd allowed middlewich to keep th door shut . middlewich did manage to score first but this was down to us failing to clear the ball quickly 0-1. never the less we bounced straight back with agood move down the left with freddie who crossed to jack who spun neatley hit a low shot into the bottom corner . 1-1 another good run by freddie resulted in a low cross shot nestling in the bottom corner 2-1 halft time.
the second half sore egerton have lots of possesion but were unable to kill the game off. this allowed midlewich to peg us back again 2-2. but with 5 minutes to go adam popped up on the right and hit a shot from 20 yards which looped over the keeper and into the top corner 3-2
egerton manged to see out a few more middlewich attacks for a hard eaned victory.

PANTHERS 1-2 MIDDLEWICH

The second game started more brightly with both teams looking to attack. the midfield 3 of ed leo and luke battled tirelessly putting in some strong tackling and probing runs which were well dealt with by a strong middlewich back line . luke and tom worked well down the right looking to get crosses in but again were unable to break through the middlewich defence 0-0 half time.
egerton started brightly enough in the second half but found them selves behind early on . this didnt affect the rythem of play as we were soon on level terms through a quality set piece. tom floated in a corner with was met with power and aggresion by luke who headed high into the net .this gave the boys the momentum to go and get the winner but this was not to be as middlewich hit the killer blow a low shot bobbled over matt 1-2. this left the boys drained and as the heads went down the final whistle went.

The Season So Far !

Three games into the season so i think it is about time we got motivated and updated "The Blog".

Weaverham, First game of to the season, Three new faces ,one goalkeeper, squad rotation, players missing, were these the reason we got beat 9-7 !

I think all of the above could have played a part,

Not a good result for us but on the bright side we scored 7 goals and the season is up and running.

Week 2

Macclesfield away.

Feeling happy about this fixture, the sun was shining the grass a bit long , the team was a little light due to cub camp, a new signing making his debut, what could go wrong ?

Then the "Storm cloud" appeared The wind started to blow the sun "Dropped out of the sky" why was this The "Man in Black" was back ,

No not Our "Smoggy Ref" , But "A*** H****" In full ref`s kit Red and Yellow card peeping out of his pocket, (maybe just for Lee`s sake). I was expecting him to have a radio strapped on to his ear with gaffa tape.

The hair`s on my neck stuck up like needles, the fire started to burn inside, this could get messy.

So back to the game i had great pleasure in contesting every call A*** H**** made and even found myself on the pitch asking why he asked for a penalty to be retaken.

We ended up Winning 7-2 quite easy in the end, and not one shout of "Ave some respect will ya" .

Week 3

Sandbach home.

Not alot to say about the game (except for Lee sporting another new coat) !the boys are begining to settle in now , the goals are coming thick and fast the passing game has arrived, the new signings are settling in , 8-2 winners on the day.

What has changed !

The boys have a "Swagger" within them now it must be that they are all hitting double figures in age, the seem much calmer this season and most important they have learnt to tie their shoe laces !

We have lots of things on our minds this season squad rotation, goalkeeping duties, looking to next season 11 a side, but i am sure we will all get through it and enjoy another season full of up`s and more up`s.

I will save all the "Stats" for the boss to update, and if anyone has seen our chief reported could you ask him to update the blog with next fixtures etc.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the blog feel free email me and i will copy and paste it to the blog (when Mitch shows me how to).

All for now
