Macclesfield Town 0 - 4 Egerton U9's Panthers

The Panthers didn't waste anytime setting aboutr the opposition and Ollie Oldbury showed the first intent bursting down the left and forcing the Macclesfield keeper into the first of many fine saves. Minutes later Ollie was hit the bar with a rasping and Paolo Tabone almost opened the scoring but was thwarted by the keeper. Macclesfield almost scored too but a good effort went wide and stand in keeper Isaac Bennett wasn't tested. Eventually the deadlock was broken in the first half when Archie Phillips crossed to the back post and Adam Lee was there to stroke the ball home magnificently. The Panthers looked to extend their lead in the second half when Adam Lee almost curled a good effort in and Luke Granger was unlucky not score the goal his great all round performance deserved. At the other end Ben Haselden was setting himself a personal challenge to clear the boundary fencing as anything threatening the Egerton box was volleyed away from danger. His defensive partner Andy Price had another wonderful game intelligently using the ball to earn himself the man of the match award for the second week running. The Panthers second was scored when Ollie Oldbury cut in from wide and coolly slotted the ball into the net after receiving a superb pass down the line by Adam Lee. Ollie Oldbury then fed Luke Granger who squared to Leo Buckley who slid the ball past the keepr for the team's third goal. He almopst picked up a second when he turned smartly and hit a sweet strike which cannoned of the post. It was Luke Granger's turn to rue his luck next when his shot clipped the post. The fourth and final goal came courtesy of long clearance by Archie Phillips and Ollie Oldbury's persistent chasing down forced a defelcted shot in to wrap up the game.

Macclesfield Town 0 - 6 Egerton Pumas U9's

After a run of disappointing results, the Pumas came back with a vengeance. A slow start saw the Pumas dominating possession as they tried to impose their passing game. Macclesfield had the best chance of the earliest exchanges but didn't trouble keeper Matt Willis. Midway through the first half Stan Smith's first touch found Bradley Hargreaves with time and space to calmly slot the ball into the bottom corner vfor the first goal. Maccelsfield responded well but even with a three man advantage could not find a way past Ben Henthorn. Bradley Hargeaves broke down the right and his low cross shot was turned in at the far post by Stan Smith to maintain his fine sequence of scoring in consecutiove games. Tom Quenby linked play well across the park and created a chance for Jack Curbishley who's shot went just wide. After the break, Egerton started on the back foot and Matt Willis had to get down well to turn a goal bound effort round the post. The midfield and defensive combinations were proving too much for the opposition to handle even with Liam Birnie spreading suffering from an injury. Freddie Sass gave another fantastic performance giving Macclesfield no time or space to dwell in the ball. As the second half progressed, Mitchell Brown bossed the midfield creating chance after chance spraying the ball around. His Man of the Match performance contributed to four second half goals as first Bradley Hargreaves completed his brace with a nonchalant finish; then Stan Smith completed his brace with trademark tap in the goal line; andf Jack Curbishley picked up another two goals playing on the shoulder of the last defender to take full advantage.

therefereesdecisionisfinal - match reflections: Guest report from Matt @ Weaverham (Away)

http://therefereesdecisionisfinal.blogspot.com/2010/03/guest-report-from-matt-weaverham-away.html

Weaverham 3 – 2 Egerton Pumas U9’s

The Pumas started brightly and took the lead in the first half when Leo Buckley forced the keeper into a difcult save and Adam Lee was close at hand to prod the ball home. The same combination almost worked another goal when a neat interchange Leo Buckley and Adam Lee forced another good save but this time the ball went to safety. Once again Ed Franklin was dominating the midfield and Isaac Bennett solidly holding the back line as the game swung end to end and Jasper Kearns had to show some smart handling of the ball. Ben Haselden was unlucky to see his effort go narrowly wide following an Archie Phillips corner. After the half time interval, Weaverham caught the Egerton defence napping and pulled back an equaliser. Egerton responded and Ollie Oldbury’s mazy run beat three men but not the keeper. Archie Phillips found himself free but again could not find the net. A long clearance by man of the match Andy Price fell into the path of Ollie Oldbury who coolly slipped the ball past the keeper. Weaverham responded immediately to level. Egerton kept pressing with Paolo Tabone linking play well but there was time for Weaverham to grab a winner and leave the Pumas disappointed.

Weaverham 2 – 1 Egerton Panthers U9’s

Another disappointing result for the Panthers as they sli pping another defeat. Egerton played well in patches but either luck was against them or they could not find the right final ball to take full advantage of some good attacking opportunities. Man of the match was stand in keeper Freddie Sass who made some outstanding saves. The first half saw both teams creating chances and Ben Hengthorn made a marvellous last ditch tackle to stop a certain goal. Bradley Hargreaves went closest for the Panthers when he attempted a cheeky lob only to see his effort clear both the keeper and the goal. Weaverham took full advantage of Egerton wasting chances and possession and took the lead just before half time. The second half carried on in the same way with Weaverham adding to their lead. Egerton always promised to score and when Liam Birney passed to Jack Curbishley who found Luke Granger it was typical of the team’s luck to see a good shot clip the post and go out to safety. Eventually Egerton did score what turned out to be a consolation when Stan Smith picked out Bradley Hargreaves who neatly flicked the ball on to release Luke Granger and the low cross was met by Stan Smith to turn the ball in.

Egerton Pumas U9's 1 - 4 Vale Juniors

The Pumas never really got going in a below par performance. Despite some good approach play, the team were never able to find the final pass or make the right decision at the right time. Vale Juniors took full advantage and raced to a three nil lead at half time capitalising on some well executed set piece moves. The second half was a little better for Egerton, with Jack Curbishley singled out as man of the match for a typical never say die attitude. A fourth goal was conceded before Stan Smith headed a late consolation.

Egerton Panthers U9's 4 - 0 Vale Juniors

Egerton opened the scoring when Archie Phillips drilled a low shot in at the near post after a driving run down the left. Jasper Kearns was called into action to make a brave save at the feet of an onrushing attacker. Adam Lee almost added a second when hitting a rebound first time and was unlucky to see his effort clip the wrong side of the post. The chances were coming in thick and fast for both teams as Vale responded and hit the frame of the Egerton goal too. The second goal came when Mitchell Brown linked up with Archie Phillips who picked out Ollie Oldbury to slide the ball in. In the second half, the Panthers showed flashes of brilliance. Luke Granger superbly lost his marker with a great turn and flashed his shot just wide. Leo Buckley controlled the ball and played a wonderful pass to create another chance of a shot on goal. In defence Ben Haselden was letting nothing past him while Isaac Bennett popped everywhere to snuff out danger. Man of the match Ollie Oldbury wrapped up a second consecutive hat trick with two well taken goals. At the death Ed Franklin was disappointed to not get his name on the scoresheet which would capped a fine midfield performance.
