Egerton Panthers U9’s 4 – 0 Frodsham Town

The Panthers didn’t look too rusty, playing their first game of the year. Egerton opened brightly and were soon in the lead when Luke Granger worked the ball well down the right and crossed for Adam Lee to stab the ball home. Jasper Kearns was grateful to see the ball bounce out from the upright as he earned a clean sheet. The team pushed on and a smart move involving Ben Haselden and Mitchell Brown released Isaac Bennett who was unlucky to see his shot go just wide. The second came when an Archie Phillips corner was unluckily deflected in. After the break, the Panthers carried on in the same vein with Ed Franklin and Andy Price giving the opposition no time on the ball. Another corner was this time converted by Leo Buckley from close range. A driving run and through ball from man of the match Mitchell Brown allowed Adam Lee to calmly slip the ball past he keeper to pick up his second of the game and wrap up a good victory.

Egerton Pumas U9’s 3 – 0 Frodsham Town

It took a while for the Pumas to get going even after Bradley Hargreaves went as close as possible without scoring when drove the ball against the inside of the upright from the tightest of angles. A tactical change immediately paid dividends when Freddie Sass picked out Liam Birnie who made no mistake with a sweet finish. Frodsham were always under pressure on the ball from Paolo Tabone and Olivia French kept possession well. Ben Henthorn and Tom Quenby swept up to deny any clear shots on goal. Stan Smith added to the Pumas tally shortly after the restart, while Matt Willis was called upon to make some smart clearances with his feet as Frodsham threatened to respond. Liam Birnie picked up a second goal and never quit trying for his hat trick but in the end had to settle for a deserved man of the match award.

Team: Ben Henthorn; Bradley Hargreaves; Freddie Sass; Liam Birney; Matt Willis; Olivia French; Paolo Tabone; Stan Smith; Tom Quenby

MANAGERS COMMENTS

FRODSHAM HOME
